The Fraud of Global Warming

0:00Good morning. This is the fraud of global warming. Well, the following exchange is downloadable from the Internet, and it was between an adult and a young student. It's pretty typical, so let's look at this in order to look at this topic. B, the adult says, so do you believe in global warming? Oh, yes, says Melissa. Oh, do you think people are responsible? Uh-huh. They put all that junk in the air, that carbon dioxide, and it has to be causing the world to get warmer.

0:49Is that so? That junk carbon dioxide? Of all the carbon dioxide that is going into the air, what percent of it do you think is natural? What percent of it do you think is caused by people? Well, I don't know. Maybe people cause 75%? Hmm, 75%. Well, what if I told you that people cause less than 5% and all the other carbon dioxide is natural? Well, how about all the polar bears that are drowning, and the ice caps are melting?

1:41How many polar bears have drowned? I don't know, but they're going extinct. Oh, really? Polar bear population has doubled in the last few decades. You're making me mad. Why is that? Because you are. Okay, so where did you learn that all the polar bears are dying? In a movie I saw at school. The movie shown at school, how many of you here have seen it? Well, you ought to.

2:28The movie shown at school was Albert Gore's documentary film called An Inconvenient Truth. It's being viewed in many schools across the country, even across the world. Gore was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for this documentary in 2007, and he decided to share it with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the IPCC. It's telling that the very first chairman of the IPCC, John Huffton, said, unless we announce disasters, nobody will listen. Well, true to script, Gore announced disasters and most people listened.

3:19Well, let's look at what that movie asked viewers like little Melissa to accept. Each assumption, each implication is a snapshot of the global warming doomsdayers' views. Our added perspective sees the fraud of catastrophic global warming. Carbon dioxide drives the temperature of the planet. Gore assumes that carbon dioxide, CO2, is the causal factor of the world's warming temperatures. But for at least 240,000 years, carbon dioxide has been a lagging indicator of any warming.

4:11That means that the earth warms and later, carbon dioxide is increased. Roy Spencer, up the road here, a climate scientist in Huntsville, Alabama, notes that the cooling effects of weather have a stronger influence on surface temperatures than the warming influence of greenhouse gases. The major greenhouse gases are water vapor. 70 to 90 percent of all greenhouse effect is water vapor. Then carbon dioxide. Then methane. That's cow's toot. And rice patties. Methane.

4:59Many scientists work on the theory that the sun is the prime driver of Earth's climate. Think of that. And that Earth temperature and sun activity do correlate closely, although correlations are not causations. I was born, there was World War II. It's not my fault. Additionally, many scientists examine the larger cosmos. Their theories reveal an interplay between the sun and cosmic rays coming from supernovas, exploded stars. Further, they discern long-term temperature patterns as our own tiny solar system moves through the arms of our larger Milky Way galaxy.

5:51Again, those events correlate more closely to Earth's temperatures than do man-made carbon dioxide levels. Gore says, temperatures will rise 1.5 to 4.5 degrees Celsius When CO2 levels double from pre-industrial levels of 280 parts per million to a doubling to 560 parts per million of carbon dioxide in the air. Because Earth's sensitivity to carbon dioxide changes has been vastly overstated, the scientifically likely temperature result of such a doubling is one and a half to two degrees Celsius.

6:36Earth's current CO2 level is at 380 parts per million. Catastrophic global warming will cause sea levels to rise 20 feet. Well, the work of scientists supports a sea level rise of about one inch per decade. So in 100 years, what would that be? Right, 10 to 12 inches. Catastrophic global warming is forcing island nations to evacuate their populations and everybody relocate to New Zealand. Tuvalu was the island nation that was the poster child for this catastrophe.

7:22But nobody from Tuvalu and nobody else from any of those island nations, about 20 of them, has relocated to New Zealand. Catastrophic global warming is melting the Antarctic ice sheet. But Antarctic sea ice is thickening over the entire gigantic continent. This thickening reduces sea level. There is ice loss on a tiny sliver of northward stretching continent off of Antarctica. And that is what Gore's movie image relies upon. The ice shelf collapse there was more likely to have been driven by ocean current fluctuations.

8:08Catastrophic global warming is resulting in extreme weather. Tornadoes? The U.S. is home to one-third of all the world's tornadoes. But tornadoes have not increased. Drought? There is not greater incidence of drought. Record typhoons and cyclones? No. Hurricanes? There are about 95 hurricanes annually and globally, but hurricanes are neither more frequent nor more intense. In 2004, the IPCC hyped hurricane fears without any scientific soundness.

8:57Goresfilm footage implies that Hurricane Katrina, a bad hurricane, was an inescapable consequence of man-made, globally averaged warming. Facts do not support that alarm. Catastrophic global warming has caused global temperatures to be warmer now than they have been in 1,000 years. Gore's graph displays a long level period ending in a big upward swoop like a hockey stick. A young IPCC scientist named Mann created that hockey stick graph. He made the real medieval warm period disappear and he had to make the little ice age also disappear for a 2001 report that scared everybody.

9:50It was an enormously effective prompt. Alarmist used it for their the science is settled position. It made the 20th century temperature increase look unique, but man's methodology would have conjured any set of random numbers into a hockey stick appearance. And the temperature increase was not unique. In 2006 the National Academy of Sciences issued a report stating that the graph used flawed data. The IPCC has dropped the use of the man hockey stick from its 2007 report, but this piece of deliberate misinformation caused great damage to both truth and to science.

10:43Catastrophic global warming has dried up Lake Chad in Africa. Lake Chad has been totally dry several times before humans were adding any carbon dioxide. Catastrophic global warming has melted the snows on Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. By the time Ernest Hemingway wrote The Snows of Kilimanjaro back in 1936, half of that snow was already gone. This is before man began releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere to any extent by Burning Fuels for Energy. No temperature on that mountain is above freezing. There has been no temperature change in 55 years. Shrinking is likely to be a circulation issue and a lower precipitation issue, not a rising temperature issue. Catastrophic global warming has increased Mosquito-Born Malaria Malaria was endemic to most of the developed world just 50 to 100 years ago.

11:56We eliminated malaria in Europe and the United States, while the world warmed. 600,000 people in Siberia died of malaria. Malaria sickens 300 to 500 million poor people every single year, killing as many as 2.7 million every year. In Sub-Saharan Africa, one in 20 children dies of malaria. The approximately 40 million humans killed by malaria since 1972 have died because a politician named William Ruckelshaus, who was the director, the first director of the Environmental Protection Agency, banned the beneficial pesticide DDT.

12:56No health issues are related strongly to wealth issues, not climate change policies. Catastrophic global warming is quickly melting Arctic sea ice. Arctic sea ice decreases during the summer melt season, and Arctic temperatures have risen faster than anywhere else. The Antarctic region was warmer in the 1930s. That could not have been caused by mankind. Antarctic sea ice has recovered from 3 million square kilometers to 14 million square kilometers. Ice cover around the Bering Strait and Alaska has more recently been at its highest level ever recorded.

13:46Catastrophic global warming is killing polar bears, said Melissa. Factually, that claim rested on a single sighting of four dead bears one day after an abrupt windstorm in an area housing one of the increasing polar bear populations. Global polar bear population has increased dramatically over the past decades. Catastrophic global warming is melting Greenland's ice. Greenland has been warmer. Its ice has not melted, except around the edges. There has been no net warming and perhaps a slight cooling since 1937.

14:33Vikings colonized and farmed Greenland during the medieval warm period. The return of colder climate drove them away. And lastly, for an inconvenient truth, catastrophic global warming has caused mass extinctions. Warming extends ranges for plant and animal species. Biodiversity is enhanced. That's why the greatest concentration of biodiversity is in the tropics. Higher concentrations of carbon dioxide are shown to triple plant production, while lowering the plant's water requirements and make them more durable to stress. Animals thrive on more abundant plant life.

15:21Enriched carbon dioxide has yielded an additional one-sixth total production, which would not have happened in its absence.

15:34Each of these 14 scenarios would have been an environmental bad had it happened. and had it been empirically provable to have been caused by humans. But it is fraud to spread alarmism of catastrophic human-caused global warming based upon projections that are generated by computer climate models. Those models have substantial uncertainties and they are markedly unreliable. There are real and achievable global causes, but to throw scarce resources at catastrophic global warming caused by man when such expenditures will have inconsequential results except to impoverish us, notwithstanding that Al Gore thinks it would be spiritually good for us, that would be bad for us.
