This one speaks for itself. Not only do politicians (nor their economic advisors) not understand that they cause recessions, but they have no clue when and whether recessions (or recoveries) might come about. Bush also said the strength of the dollar was fine during the time it was plummeting between 2002 and 2008. Though the dollar has fallen against most major currencies for the last 50 years or more, Treasury officials always state that the current administration supports “a strong dollar policy,” at the same time they are actually printing money and devaluing the currency.
